I think that I have quite alot of working experience. But today, i just met the most unreasonable person in my life. I will not mention who and from where but this is what happened..
For our RC elective, we are supposed to do up a retail shop with the Xmas theme. Its a client based project. So, our lecturer got all of us a different store at a shopping centre. Lets call the shop allocated to us Shop A.
I called shop A on friday. But the in charge said that our lecturer was supposed to call him a few weeks back but failed to do so. And therefore, he thought the whole thing is off and had already gotten someone else to do it.
So, i called our lecturer and she tried to get another store for us. Apparently she called a store that another group is doing and asked the person to take us in as a favour to us. Lets name this shop shop B.
Shop B wanted the deco to be up by next week, so we rushed down today, A SATURDAY to take a look at the shop and come out with the concept.
Shop B’s owner was not at the shop and according to our lecturer, we are supposed to liaise with them and find out the cost and the design they prefer.
I called The owner of shop B. And said:
“Hi is this Miss ***? I am Joanna, from singapore poly. I would like to know how much is the budget you will be giving us to do up your place?”
Miss ***: ” HUH?!”
Jo: ” Can i know how much is the budget we are given?”
Miss ***:” WHAT?!”
Jo:” can i know how much we are given to do up the place?”
Miss ***:” I thought i dont have to pay a single cent?!”
Jo:” oh… erm ok i will call my lecturer to ask. Thank you, bye.”
So i called the Lecturer… talking, talking, talking.
Then,
The shop assistant called me in to answer the phone inside the shop, so i went and put lecturer on hold.
GUESS WHAT?
” JOANNA? “
“Yes.”
” I DONT LIKE THE WAY YOU TALKED TO ME, WHAT KIND OF ATTITUDE IS THAT….. BLAH BLAH BLAH. (SCOLDING ALOT I CANT REMEMBER.)
No, i need to know how much budget we are given so that we can work on the designs. But my lecturer just told me that it will be covered by the shopping mall management.
Everything she was shouting at the top of her voice, bloody hell screaming at me.
” ITS NOT ABOUT THE COST, ITS YOUR TONE, I DONT LIKE THE WAY YOU QUESTION ME. WHAT BUDGET. YOU SHOULD HAVE FOUND OUT WHO WAS PAYING FOR IT BEFORE YOU MADE THE CALL.”
” Firstly, I couldnt really hear you from the phone, 2nd my lecturer told me to find out the cost from you.”
” YOU THINK WHAT “ba sa bai cai” OR WHAT?! WHAT YOU DID WAS VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. IF THAT IS THE CASE AT LEAST YOU SHOULD SEND ME AN OFFICAL EMAIL TO ASK FOR IT!”
(How much time was given to us? we need to see the place, sketch, get approval from sch, then from shop owner, buy the things then do up the place by next week. Do i even have the bloody time to email and wait? when its just a phone call away.)
“ok in that case i am sorry, but that was what our lecturer told us, and furthermore you wanted the place to be decorated by next week.”
(Walao i say sorry already you know, i tahan and take away my pride to apologize leh. Junliang and cx both say that if it was them, they hang up the phone alr loh. and JL say that since the person dont respect me why should i respect her. Cx funier, she say the person call back then ask her, you ready to talk nicely already? hahahaha.)
” I AM DOING YOU A FAVOUR BY TAKING YOU IN OKAY! I HEARD THAT OTHER OUTLET REJECT YOU AND YOUR LECTURER ASKED ME TO TAKE YOU IN.”
(wtf, now she is saying that other outlets dont want us cos we are bad is it? omg i really wanted to kill myself. It was not in anyway our fault at all leh, that the outlet made the decorations already.)
“GET YOUR LECTURER TO SPEAK TO ME.”
“ok i get her to call you now.”
bluuuuuu.. she fucking hang up my phone okay.
Guess what, worse part. Lecturer said this to me:” the other group had no problems with that and are starting to do the place already. i dont know why your grp has this problem.”
SEE LAH SHE SAY IS MY FAULT LEH. She didnt even fucking hear what i said, what was my tone, what was my attitude. Goodness. I feel like killing myself.
“Can i know what is the budget given to us” PLEASE TELL ME IN WHAT FUCKING WAY WAS I RUDE! I said nicely, and when she scolded me i didnt say anything else leh, i even said i am sorry. GOODNESS.
So guess what? We found our own client and will start next week.
Tell me what kind of lecturer we have? Who was the one who didnt contact Shop A in the first place? Who squeezed us in another shop last min?
Who told me to ask for the budget? And who ended up pointing fingers back at me?
Yes, my group is very angry and very pissed off right now. With the owner as well as the lecturer. They heard how i spoke to the person, i was not in any way rude okay. AND If i had a problem with my attitude, Shop A would have complained when they told me that they are not going to let us do the place. God damn it. i cant believe this happened, WITHOUT A REASON. i didnt do anything wrong, i guess i am just bloody unlucky to call the owner when she is in a bad mood or sth.
